A tsunami is a vast, powerful, and impactful force that reminds me of the power possessed by the ocean.
This necklace is a showcase for one of the rarest of ocean treasures-sea glass marbles. I prefer to beachcomb along desolate coves here in California, and many of these sites have decades of human history. A historic school nearby one of my favorite beaches gave way to many amazing discoveries…such as these marbles. I suspect that children would lose these glass spherical toys and that the marbles would eventually make their way onto the beach below.
31 remarkable and rare sea marbles are hand-woven into a wearable artwork with this creation. Hundreds of hand tied knots hold these once in a lifetime finds securely as a museum quality jewelry addition piece. I named this design after my parrot, Tsunami…who is big, powerful, and rare. I think this necklace combines all of those elements.
